Gaining the attention of the learners and focusing it in on what they will be learning that day is important to do at the beginning of a lesson. In order to do this you must plan an interest approach. An interest approach is a short introduction or prompt before the lesson that grabs the attention of the students, focuses their thinking on what they will be learning, and motivates them to learn. There is no specific way to plan an interest approach, and the interest approach will vary from lesson to lesson. For your interest approach you may ask students a series of review questions, present them with a problem they will be able to solve at the end or class, or even show them a demonstration. Any activity which gives students a peak at what they will be learning can serve as a good interest approach.
